A Registration Message from Dan

Good morning MESL families and new MESL families to be,

I hope this message finds you, and your families, well, safe and healthy.

It's that time of the year... our Registration process is now open for our MESL Fall Soccer 2021 season!  We are very excited as we prepare for the upcoming season. Registration is open for all players between the birth years of 2003 and 2017.

We are looking forward to another successful and safe season. We absolutely came together as a community as we navigated through our 2020 season while dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. We couldn't be more proud of our league's honesty and integrity while answering the COVID Screening Questions prior to each day scheduled to play...where everyone's health and safety were our number one priority. We are expecting to have our 2021 season conducted similarly, and will be asking for everyone's support with whatever the CDC and the NH Governor's guidelines are for this year's events.

We will be looking for volunteer coaches, assistant coaches, team parents... as our organization is solely run by volunteers.  If interested, or if you need additional information about these roles, please feel free to reply to this email.  We are also looking for local Sponsors.  Do you own a local business or know someone who does?  This is a great way to get your company name out to our community and support a great cause!

Feel free to click on the link below to access our MESL registration process.

Manchester East Soccer League - Registration

As always, if there are any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone in the fall!

Best regards,

Dan Adams

Sponsors Needed!

Would you be interested in sponsoring our great league? Or know someone who might? We NEED YOU!

MESL is asking for your support of our league with your sponsorship of our 2021 soccer season. Donations to MESL help ensure that each and every child in our community, who wants to play soccer, can play soccer - in a safe, clean, and fun environment. We’ve created many “package deals” so that we can offer better opportunities for you and your business to be NOTICED and to become part of our community. As you know, one of the most important forms of advertising is word-of-mouth and word-of-mouth spreads fast as a sponsor of our league!

With over 400 players, Manchester East Soccer League provides intra-league competition for ages 4 to 18, inter-league competition for ages 12 to 18, and a whole lot of fun in the process! Padden Field at Stevens Pond Park also is home to the Central High School Girls soccer team and Manchester Girls Softball League.

Please visit our Sponsor Page for more information!

Please support Manchester East Soccer League!

This year, instead of our typical Cash Calendar Fundraiser where we hand out books of calendars to every player to sell to family and friends, we’ve put together our first-ever completely VIRTUAL CASH CALENDAR FUNDRAISER. Friends and family can purchase cash calendars from you with Paypal or a credit card right from our website. Please take a minute to share with your family and friends by sharing our Facebook posts or by emailing this information! If we can get every player to sell just five cash calendars that would be fantastic!

  • Upon receipt of your donation, you be entered for each daily drawing.
  • Winning tickets will be reentered for additional chances.
  • Drawings will be held every day from October 1st through October 31st.
  • Tickets will be sold through September 30th, 2020.
  • All prizes will be mailed to the winners.

The link for sharing with friends and family: www.mesl.org/cash-calendar

Thank you for your support of our league! Every little bit really helps. From field maintenance, lights, equipment, uniform costs, player sponsorship's and so much more – we could not do it without your generous support!

Registration Special - 2020 Season Only!

Registration Special - 2020 Season Only

Due to our season being slightly shorter this year and likely to be a little bit "different" than it usually is due to COVID-19 we are offering a reduction in the per-player cost for this season only.
Cost is $50.00 per player up to a family max of $120.00 for 3 or more family members.

There will be NO LATE FEES this year, however, if you plan to play we ask that you register as soon as possible! Our division managers are ready to start putting teams together so that we can be on track to start by late August for U10 and older with our U6's and U8's starting after Labor Day.

As you all know by now, everything is of course, subject to change if deemed necessary because of COVID-19. Our MESL board will abide by guidance from Gov. Sununu as well as the NH Soccer Association and will take all matters of concern to heart. We will keep you informed of any changes that may occur as soon as they happen.  We've never put a season together under these conditions and your patience while we figure it out will help us greatly!

All parents/guardians must fill out the following form prior to their player playing at East this season.
Manchester East Soccer League - Parent and Player Information
(A new form must be filled out each year)

We've added important information regarding COVID-19 as well as our yearly parent and player information and required medical release form. Please take a few minutes to fill out the form right away.

Please refer to our website, Facebook, and follow our announcements for up-to-date information regarding the season. If you have specific concerns that our COVID-19 guidelines do not answer or any other questions about our season, please email our president Dan Adams at president@mesl.org.

Phase 3 - Message from Dan...

Good evening MESL families,

I hope this email finds you and your families well, safe, and healthy.
The reason for this email is that we are requesting some information, thoughts and feedback from everyone if possible.

The New Hampshire Soccer Association has been made aware that the state has just moved most recreational sports to Phase 3, which would allow games to be played this fall...pending any dramatic surges in infected COVID-19 cases in NH. This is fantastic news...but this season might not look as it has in years past.  Social distancing will have to remain a top priority for all players, spectators, etc.  Masks will still need to be worn while attending games, including players while not actually playing...in the bench area and getting to the specific field location.  This will require us all to be working toward the same goal, with a very clear understanding of our expectations as mothers, fathers, families, friends, and general soccer fans, as we are all in this together.

Please take a few moments to complete the survey, via the link below.  Also, within the survey, we have included the Phase 3 Amateur and Youth Sports guidelines (established by the state and the Governor's Economic Reopening Taskforce) that will need to take place while participating this fall.  Please review pages 4 & 5 (Business Process Adaptations) specifically for the details relevant to recreational sports.  This data will be collected on a spreadsheet for us to review and monitor the results.  The sooner this is completed, the better...and the more prepared we can be for this season.
https://forms.gle/VhAYmqC1AyRdLt5k9

Thank you, in advance, for your participation in the survey.  This will tremendously assist us in our planning for the Fall 2020 season.

If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Best regards,

Dan Adams

Phase 2...message from Dan

Good evening MESL families,

I hope this email finds you all well, safe, and healthy.  We are all experiencing different levels of challenges to what we used to call "normal life".  These are trying times, but we will get through them.

I wanted to take a moment to reach out to our families just to update everyone with our optimistic plans for a 2020 Fall Season.  As you are probably aware, the MESL organization is following guidelines established by the Center for Disease Control, as well as direction from Governor Sununu and the New Hampshire Soccer Association on guidelines moving forward.
With Phase 2 in progress, and businesses are beginning to reopen, I am hopefully optimistic that we will be able to salvage our upcoming season.  We have ordered uniforms to anticipate our teams playing in the fall.  Opening up our Registration would be the next step.  We're not there yet...as we are anxiously waiting for Phase 3 to be announced (which should give us the green light for our Fall Season).  Until then...we do have our fingers crossed.
If there are any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me.
Please stay safe and be kind...and we will be back in touch soon with additional updates when they are available.

Best regards,
Dan Adams

A message from MESL President, Dan Adams...

Good evening MESL Families,

I hope this message finds you (and your families) well, safe and healthy.

As you are all aware, COVID-19 has put a delay on most activities in the state. We are currently in Phase One of Return to Play Protocol created by New Hampshire Soccer Association.

Phase One allows for:
  • Individual training sessions can be held in participant home/residence using his or her own equipment.
  • Coaching occurs virtually. No coaches or athletes outside of the residence should be present during training.
Our MESL board is continuing to meet virtually at least monthly. Our next scheduled meeting will be held on June 7th. At that time, we will discuss our official plans for online registration and the possibility of in-person registrations at the clubhouse. Our registration window will be a very short one, to say the very least this year. If we can start sooner we will update you to let you know.

NHSA sends updates regularly with information that coordinates with Governor Sununu’s Stay at Home 2.0 Guidelines. We will use these guidelines to help with our planning.

Please keep an eye on our website which includes a link to our Announcements and on Facebook as well.

Please stay safe, have your kiddos practice in the yard or street and we look forward to seeing you all as soon as we can!

Thank you for your patience during this difficult time. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Best regards,

Dan Adams

MESL Player to Play for the National Women's Hockey League - CONGRATULATIONS Paige!

From the New Hampshire Union Leader:

Pandemic changed Paige Capistran's mind
  • By Chris Duffy Chief Sports Editor
  • Apr 30, 2020

  • Northeastern University defenseman Paige Capistran of Manchester was taken in the fifth round of the NWHL draft on Wednesday.
    Jim Pierce/NORTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY/

Manchester’s Paige Capistran had no intention of extending her hockey career past college.
The captain at Northeastern University, Capistran was going to play out the rest of her senior season with the nationally ranked Huskies then take her communications degree and joining the working world, preferably in Boston.
Then the coronavirus pandemic hit, and Capistran’s Huskies were on hold, as it turns out, forever. We’ll never know how they would have fared in their first-round NCAA tournament game against Princeton.
And that feeling of unfinished business was what prompted Capistran to give professional hockey a chance — which she’ll get after being selected by the Boston Pride in the fifth round of the National Women’s Hockey League’s draft on Wednesday night.
“The way things ended — or didn’t end — I was thankful when the Pride gave me an opportunity to end things the way I want to end it.”
The Pride, coached by former NHL defenseman Paul Mara, is one of six teams in the league, which was established in 2015. At the time of the pandemic, Boston was scheduled to play Minnesota in the league championship on March 13. According to the NWHL website, the fate of the final has yet to be announced.
Capistran, who played in 145 career games for NU, will join two other Granite Staters on the Pride: forward Taylor Wenczkowski of Rochester, drafted in the third round on Wednesday, and defenseman Jenna Rheault of Deering. Wenczkowski is finishing her senior year at UNH; Rheault is a UNH product who played in all 25 games for the Pride in 2019-20.
Capistran followed the draft on Wednesday night with her parents in Manchester. Her coach at Northeastern, Merrimack, N.H.’s Dave Flint, had spoken with her before the draft and told her Boston was interested.
“I knew if I played, I wanted to play for them,” Capistran said. “Northeastern became my home. I love Boston.”
Capistran, who earned the Hockey East Sportsmanship Award in 2019-20, spoke with Mara last week, she said. “He called me, which was pretty cool. I’ve never met him, but when this (the pandemic) is over, I’ll be able to meet him and the rest of the team.”
The Pride play at Warrior Ice Arena, which also serves as the training facility for the Boston Bruins. Preseason camp is scheduled for September. “I’m optimistic that will happen,” Capistran said.
Wenczkowski, the Wildcats’ captain, and Meghara McManus (also drafted Wednesday by Boston) were the wingers on UNH’s most proficient scoring line last season, with Wenczkowski tallying seven goals and 14 assists for 21 points, and McManus notching a team-high 27 points (17 goals, 10 assists).
Wenczkowski tallied 82 career points in a UNH uniform, scoring 42 goals and notching 40 assists in 149 career games. Her sophomore season was cut short due to injury, but she responded in the 2017-18 season with a team-high 20 points. She followed that with a 20-goal season.
“Taylor is incredibly skilled, competitive and driven,” said UNH coach Hilary Witt. “I am very proud of her for her accomplishments and excited to see her succeed in professional hockey.”
The top pick from a local college was UNH defenseman Tori Howran, who went Tuesday in the second round (seventh overall) to the Connecticut Whale.
Also drafted on Wednesday were Franklin Pierce University defenseman Bridgette Prentiss (fourth round, by Buffalo) and McManus (fifth round, by Boston).

    A Message from NHSA

    To: All members and affiliates
    From: Rusty Wightman, President
CC: Board of Directors and Staff
    RE: Membership Update
I hope this message finds you well and you are able to find solace with family and friends.  Our gratitude goes out to you all for your cooperation and understanding during these uncertain and trying times. Only by working together, following the guidelines set by local, state, and national leaders, can we stop the spread and give our essential workers the rest they deserve and our players, coaches, fans, and referees the game they are longing for. Please know, as it relates to the game of soccer, the executive board and staff at New Hampshire Soccer has been, and will continue to, monitor and evaluate the situation on a constant basis.
At a  board meeting on Monday, April 13, a vote was held and a decision made to further suspend all affiliated and sanctioned soccer activities statewide through May 31, 2020 due to the evolving COVID-19 situation. For our member organizations (towns, clubs, and leagues) this includes, but is not limited to: all games, practices, clinics, training, tournaments, and in-person meetings. It is imperative that we all follow recommendations and mandates from the CDC, local and federal officials, USYS and US Soccer to help stop the spread the Corona Virus. New Hampshire Soccer will evaluate conditions on a continuing basis to determine when it is appropriate to reinstate our affiliated and sanctioned soccer activities. Further communications will be provided via email and on our website.
We realize this impacts many programs throughout the state. We continue to update our contingency plans as it relates to The New Hampshire Soccer League, The ODP program, our coaching education courses, referee recertification, and grassroots courses, and all other programs and events scheduled. We know there are a lot of questions, we are working through the problems as they arise and trying to adjust and make the best of a situation that is constantly changing.
“You face adversity all the time. I accept what lies ahead and then I do my best. You can’t take things too seriously, and you can’t use things as an excuse or you’ll never get through.”
